Break Free Project
Monday the 22nd of May to Tuesday the 23rd of May the Mixchangers went to Break Free, a Christian rehab center, our mission was to help speed up the process of building their new church that will be able to seat more people. This was also seed for the buildings that will be coming for Heritage of faith.
Break Free has very strict rules and routines, and everybody is expected to follow through with them. Seeing how everything was structured and how disciplined everyone was encouraged me to do the same for myself. Imagine if I could practice the same strict discipline, how my life will turn out?
That same discipline applies to my spiritual life too. If I am lenient about my prayer life and reading the word the consequences will affect me negatively, but if I am disciplined without performance the effect on my spiritual growth and my relationship with God will be positive.
I was part of the painting team which was the most important part of the project because if the painting team did not finish their job the building could not be done. Two days of painting were more challenging than I thought they would be, but I learned to preserve and complete the job even if my body was in pain. All that bending and painting for hours to make sure the job gets done, was not the greatest experience in the moment. all i could think of was getting home taking a good shower and sleeping, only to repeat every thing on the next day
Day 2 was another tough day but I would say it was better than day 1. it was cloudy so that meant working in cool weather. Now I knew what to expect and i knew how much work I would be putting in. But that was short lived, we were told as the painting team to start carrying the planks to the side where the building of the church was happening, and boy was that a painful experience. I don’t think anything could have prepared me for the amount of hard labour I would have to endure .
But I would not trade those two days for anything at the end of it all I wished there was a third day. I grew closer to some people from the office that I never imagined i would get a chance to do so so soon.
