Cullies 2 Dullies

Running 31 km in two days never in my life did I imagine myself doing something this big, but I did it and I would do it again.

The most significant moment on the trip was finally finishing the 21 km. The 21 km runners started 3km out from the start line because the cars could not get through to the starting point, and did not think it was a big train smash. At 17 km I crossed the finishing line but I was determined to reach y goal of 21km so I ran past it. I ran past the finish point 3 times to reach that big goal.

What a mind game it was. I had the opportunity to just stop but I kept going even if it looked and felt like it did not make sense. In the end, that goal was reached and all I can do is give glory to God, I did not do that on my own strength. I had to tap into the joy that is within me to get me to the end. The word does say in Nehemiah 8:10 “The joy of the Lord is my strength”. For the first time that word came alive in me after saying it continuously, I felt it really work for me.

On the second day, I ran 10km instead of 15km. Unfortunately, my knee gave out at 7km and I couldn’t continue for too long however Izaan kept cheering while running with me and that helped me finish the whole 10km. Izaan cheering was my favorite moment of the day, it made the 10km run so amazing.

I could definitely repeat the whole experience and maybe even add 10 more kilometers to both distances.

My next goal is to run a 32km race. That would be an interesting journey, but I know God will be with me.
